Protection of gutters and roofs against freezing

We bring you a new overview of the individual elements that are needed to protect gutters and roofs against freezing. These applications can be used for single-family homes and apartment buildings, as well as public buildings and buildings for industry and business.

The simplest type of do-it-yourself solution to gutter and downspout freezing is to use a complete gutter protection kit. All variants can be found in the category Heating cables for gutter freeze protection.

This type is most used for single family homes or smaller properties where the gutter system is very simple. The eaves gutter must be 150mm in diameter and between 4 and 25m in length and the downpipe up to a maximum of 4m in length. It can be installed in locations with occasional freezing of roof gutters and downpipes, it is installed on buildings where there is no risk of snow or ice falling on public spaces.

The kit can be easily installed according to the instructions and the end plugged into a 230V socket.

The set includes:
  • two-core resistive heating cable for TO-2R gutter
  • self-regulating heating cable for SRHT Tectum drain
  • Grufast fixing and mounting elements
  • DTR outdoor interval thermostat (also serves as installation box)
  • 4m supply cord for connecting the kit to a socket

The most used kit is V-system 1325 Gutter kit E/25 with a power of 1000W, heated length of 25m.

Another type or additional solution is protection against freezing gutter. This is again a complete set with easy installation.

It can be used for automatic protection of roof drains on flat roofs against freezing and blockage.

The drain must be placed in an open area.

The heating cable is braided on a 50x50cm stainless steel grid and serves to prevent the drain from being buried in snow.

A part of the heating cable is fixed on a stainless steel cable and serves to insert into the drain to a depth of 50cm and prevents the drain mouth from freezing.

The long supply cable is used to connect to the existing wiring, so there is no need to redesign it in any complicated way. The kit also includes a non-gated thermostat that switches the heating cable when the temperature drops beyond +3 degrees Celsius.
